Since you are now familiar with the concepts of biodiesel and solar cooking, you might find the concept of biogas refreshing. A company in India has come up with an affordable way for low-income households to have a constant supply of gas at home. The small biogas plant converts food waste (in an odorless manner) into gas used for cooking. One can also obtain gardening fertilizer via this type of biogas plant. As is the case with any investment in renewable energy, it pays itself off within a few years after its purchase. The plant can last for a good 10 years before needing replacement. Find out more about it in the video below.
I am convinced that such a product would do well in Jamaica as a lot of Jamaicans still use gas to cook. Its use shouldn’t limit itself to low-income households. Anyone who wishes to save money should consider this alternative.
