Financial literacy in Jamaican schools: Good news!

posted by Focused on February 7, 2011 @ 6:59 pm in MEDIA

Do you remember an article I posted on this site that referred to the need for financial literacy to be tought in schools? If you do, which I hope, you will find the following news refreshing. Today's Gleaner reported that the Financial Services Commission (FSC) is "offering financial lessons in schools to educate students about their rights and responsibilities as consumers of financial services". Please read the article here.

This is great news as I am a firm believer in the fact that financial literacy is a vital element that one needs to remove one's self from poverty and to avoid heading towards it. The chances of being prosperous are infinitely higher when one is financially literate
