Do you remember the article I wrote and posted last year about Jamaica’s sports tourism opportunities ? When writing it last year, I thought that major moves would be made by the Jamaican government to capitalize on Jamaica’s athletic success on the global stage. It still hasn’t happened. The Gleaner published an interesting article discussing the issue related to Jamaica’s lack of action with regards to the country’s marketing opportunities. In addition to that, the article quotes some government officials’ ‘big talk’ (about the plans to earn money from sports) expressed between 2007 and 2008. You can read the article here.
Given the government’s apathy, it will be up to the private sector to take on the entire task. The opportunity is too big to miss. What do you think?
